EPRINT OFFER A LOT OF CHOICE WHEN IT COMES TO PRINTING…
HOW DO I COMPARE PAPER STOCKS TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE FOR ME?

Even after familiarising yourself with what stock types are what in the way of thickness, there’s still the issue of not knowing what stock will suit your concept as you can’t touch or feel paper stocks through the screen.

To solve this problem, we have created pre-printed sample packs of matching designs over the different stock options, so you can compare our range side by side with a consistent colour point of reference.

We mostly offer sample packs of our thicker card stocks ranging from standard card to textured options. We;ve also recently created a foil sample pack for hot foil products which feature GOLD – SILVER – ROSE GOLD – BLUE – RED – GREEN – COPPER printed cards all of which have a foil strip across the middle.

PAPER STOCKS EXPLAINED – WHAT IS “GSM”?

ePrint pride ourselves on being a completely custom printing company and to do this, we know we have to offer you, the customer, the freedom of choice when it comes to stock options on our various digital print products. Our selection in some cases can be pretty vast across the spectrum of “paper”, that it can be difficult for to know exactly what these stocks look and feel like from beyond the screen.

  • Standard Stocks range from 80gsm (photocopy paper), 100gsm (uncoated and coated) – to thicker premium flyer stocks in the 150gsm (satin or gloss) & 200gsm (satin & gloss).
  • Thick Card Stocks – card stocks generally need to be at 300gsm and above to count as “card”. The perception of a card stock, is the ability to hold it in one hand and judge the amount of bow it takes with the force of gravity. If it is rigid enough to not bend straight vertically downwards, it is probably a card stock. We offer card stock in the same 300gam (satin & gloss), 350gsm (satin and gloss) again, but also in what we call HD stock which is a premium digital grade card stock weighted for Business Cards and other Card products due to its ability to print small details in better definition.
  • Textured stocks – this is the most difficult to communicate without the aid of samples, as we offer textured stocks that range from linen, eggshell, transparent, kraft, uncoated, cotton and also a metallic range which has to be seen to be believed.

It’s also not uncommon for customer who are new to print lingo to be in the dark on again what a “gsm” is and what paper type is appropriate for their print run. We created this gsm integer line to try to better shed some light on which paper stocks are used for what application.
